Sweat

Mr. Lewis was a womanizer of York district. His father didn't educate him at all and allowed his son to have his own way. Lewis slept with his sisters and maids. Afterwards, all of Lewis's children died. He was put to jail for adultery. He became poor and ill. Nobody came to see him. After he died, no one gave him a coffin. His corpse was exposed outdoors, full of maggots. Everyone who passed there said the same thing, "Adultery gets bad results".

Poem

He commits many times of adultery.

He gets many diseases and calamity.

He has been punished by office and so poor,

Nobody sends his corpse to cementery.

"Sweat" is the story I chose and the media text is a story called "Adultery Gets Bad Result". The thematic connection between Sweat and Adultery Gets Bad Result is what you sow is what you reap. Both stories showed that what goes around comes around. The connection between both stories is the fact that both men decided to take advantage and use others. In the end because of their womanizing characteristics, both men were put into situations where what you sow is what you reap. As you can see, both men weren’t ready for the play of karma that snuck up on them and put them in thier place. Both men were adulterers and were not faithful to their lovers. Sykes, from the story Sweat, repeatedly abuses, cheats and tortures his wife. This unfaithful and abusive man decided to bring a snake into their home. Unfortunately, his wife, Delia, is terribly frightened by snakes or anything that resembles it. In the closure of the story, the snake sunk his teeth into Sykes’ flesh and poisoned him as he experienced an extremely painful death. Mr. Lewis from the story Adultery Gets Bad Result is a womanizer who sleeps with his sisters and maids. Due to constant sexual intercourse with different people, he was infected with diseases that took his life. Since he had lived such a corrupted life, when he passed away, his body was deserted without a care. In conclusion, both characters were forced to experience a very tragic end, which definitely proves that what you sow is what you reap.
